Well blow me down with a feather. That night Checkboard Lounge came to our venue and layed down. the most righteous gig MONSTER players and new friends. Melbourne blues institution CBL making their debut tour of NZ: Shannon Bourne, Karl Punnuzzo and Tim Neal. The stuff of dreams - what a night. Celine Filbee - ya done good!!!!!
My drop dead fangirl moment with starspangled Australian pocket rocket blues woman Minnie Marks up at the Bay of Islands Jazz & Blues Fest. We shared some hearty laughs, a wee roady, party times and wicked gigs.
I'm delighted to be making my debut performance a the legendary Bay of Islands Jazz and Blues Festival. I have 6 shows scheduled over the 3 days amidst a cracker line up. Keep an eye out for seriously hot Australian headliner Minni Marks!
Three days of good music and friendship in the stunning setting of the Bay of Islands of New Zealand – one of the top tourist spots of the country. Each year the festival features more than 40 acts performing at multiple venues. Street music in Paihia and Russell also gives you a chance to enjoy the music as you dine at a nearby cafe or ale house.
My next release is so full of swag and attitude - a classic blues rhumba that parties like an “Amy Winehouse meets Bo Diddley” backstage affair! With Darren Watson producing and servin' up the smokin' hot, fangy guitar lines "Bruised and Wondering" is coming for you just in time for Matariki.
You will be able to purchase the download from my website store if your want to help keep the magic happening or pre-save the track here to stream it once released.
Performing alongside international guest Tina Turley from Canada and NZ's much loved darling of the country circuit Carylann Martin was an absolute highlight. Divine musicianship and harmonies. So much aroha for you two! www.tinaturly.com
Grateful thanks to Joy Adams for nominating my song FINE LINE to this international competition. And to get through to what i think is shortlisting - well lets just say i am pretty rapt! Props to Darren Watson, Lamington Studio, Poneke for feeling it and producing it.
Beautiful steps!
This next release is really significant for me - I'm getting closer to my core sound and it's damned exciting! So yeah, FINE LINE will be here at the end of September. A kick-ass, triumphant, grindy, bluesy banger. Can't phecking wait....... yeooow!
We had a great time at this festival and wonderful to be immersed in the sounds of Chris Cain, The Roger Fox Big Band, Sonic Delusion, Pip Payne, Laura Collins and the Back Door Blues Band, Kokomo, King Kapisis, The Julie Lamb Outfit, Blues Buffet with Erna Ferry and more!!! Chris Cain is a monster player and such a nice guy. I knew more people on the bill than in the audience - i must be getting closer!!!
